What is a modular clean room?

As we all know, now days , we demand more and more of the products we use, or the environment we working, and the clean environment the product be produced is vital for its quality, in order to maintain its cleanliness, we use clean room to reach such a demanding environment.

History of clean rooms

The first cleanroom identified by historians dates all the way back to the mid-19th century, where sterilized environments were being used in hospital operating rooms. Modern cleanrooms, however, were created during WWII where they were used to produce and manufacture top-of-the-line weaponry in a sterile and safe environment. During the war, US and UK industrial manufacturers designed tanks, airplanes, and guns, contributing to the success of the war and providing the military with weaponry that was needed.

Although no exact date can be pinpointed to when the first cleanroom existed, it is known that the HEPA filters were being used throughout cleanrooms by the early 1950s. Some believe that cleanrooms date back to World War I when there was a need to segregate the work area to reduce cross-contamination between manufacturing areas.

Regardless of when they were established, contamination was the problem, and cleanrooms were the solution. Continually growing and constantly changing for the betterment of projects, research, and manufacturing, cleanrooms as we know them today are recognized for their low levels of pollutants and contaminants.

Modular clean rooms are enclosed area where the contamination is limited, and it can also control the air pressure, moisture, temperature; the goal is to provide an ideal space for production or other activities, most clean room are be used in pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, hospitals, clean rooms can be divided into different types via cleanliness level,for example, ISO and GMP ,the class is decided base on amount of particles per cubic meter, or cubic inch.

While the clean room is working, outside air firstly is circulated to a filtration system, and then the HEPA or ULPA filter will remove particles in it, then blow the air into the clean room,thus created a positive pressure, the pressure will push the dirty air outside of the cleanroom, during this process,the cleanliness will rise, ultimately , the cleanliness will reach the corresponding demand, so that,a clean environment that meets the demands was created.

Why we call it modular?

What’s the difference of it compare to a normal one?well, the key difference is the structure, the structure itself is modular, which means it can be assembled or disassembled faster and easier, also, it is good for later expansion too, you can make your clean room bigger or smaller simply by adding or removing materials from it; it’s convenient to do so;

The material of the whole clean room can reach a reusable rate of 98%, make it environmentally friendly and cost effective.
